The “All My Children” actor seemed to know his “Dancing” exit was coming as the safe contestants were picked out by the show’s co-host, Tom Bergeron.
Marie Osmond was the first dancer put through to Week 9 and Mel B followed not long after.
Helio Castroneves, the racecar driver was also saved, making him the only male dancer remaining in the competition.
And it was down to two – Jennie Garth or Cameron.
When his name was called, Cameron had nothing but kind words for his castmates.
“I love you guys,” he said as the audience gave the actor-turned-dancer a standing ovation for his smooth moves and his chest-baring shirts, which on Monday received some criticism from judge Len Goodman.
Even co-host Tom seemed sad to see Cameron go, noting that in all his time with the series he had never seen a contestant travel so much (Cameron was filming full time on “All My Children” in New York City during his LA “Dancing” run).
“I don’t know what I’m gonna do with the time off,” Cameron said as the news sunk in. “Not a single bit of me wanted to go home.”
He saved some of his greatest praise for his partner, Edyta Sliwinska.
“I can’t believe what you’ve done with me from the beginning ‘til now,” he enthused.
As it turns out, Edyta was surprised by how long they lasted.
“It’s been an amazing journey,” she said. “I never thought you were gonna go so far.”
