overview
It’s hard to image more opposite characters than a juxtaposition of Jamie Foxx’s portrayal of über-ugly girl Wanda on television’s “In Living Color” and his haunting portrayal of Ray Charles in the biopic “Ray.” The roles highlight the deep talent of the former standup comic who was born Eric Bishop on December 13, 1967 in Terrell, Texas.
Although he did the standup gigs earlier in his career, it wasn’t until his 1991 signing to the cast of Fox’s sketch comedy show “In Living Color” that Jamie’s career really took off. His big screen successes weren’t far behind either. He notched a few small roles with films like “Toys” and “The Players Club” and then really cut loose in the early 2000’s with starring roles in films like “Ali,” “Breakin’ All The Rules,” “Ray” and “Dreamgirls.” His 2004 Best Actor award for “Ray” secured his place as one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood.
