Teenager Becky G. is a rising music star who just premiered her new video, “Becky from the Block” on VEVO, and the tune got the ultimate seal of approval from Jennifer Lopez, who cameoed in the clip.
Becky’s version uses her own take on the chorus from Jennifer’s 2002 hit, “Jenny From The Block,” and teaming up with the superstar was a treat for the 16-year-old Inglewood, Calif., performer.
“It was such a dope and fun experience to work with an idol of mine,” Becky said in a statement. “Jen has always been an inspiration to me so to have her blessing on my remake of ‘Jenny from the Block’ was part of my dream coming true.
“Becky from the Block’ is my life story and for her to have listened to it and be in the music video means the world to me. Hanging out with her and sharing a lot of laughs will be something I will never forget,” Becky’s statement concluded.
Jennifer can be seen nodding at the youngster in this video, and urging her to get in the low rider (being driven by Casper Smart). (WATCH: ‘Becky From The Block’ On Vevo.)
Becky G. is currently working on her debut album for Kemosabe/RCA Records.
Her previous single, “Problem (The Monster Remix),” featuring will.i.am, has already accumulated more than 3.3 million video views on VEVO.
