LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
It’s only fitting that we end Glam Slam’s Celebrity Shape Up Secrets Week with a workout targeting the end… the rear end!
I have to admit; I got used to covering up my posterior problems in jeans and oversized J.Crew sweaters! Luckily we’re only at the start of bikini season and I still have time to a-tone for those Winter-Spring indulgences.
Celebrity Trainer David Kirsch — a.k.a. “Master of the Ass” as nicknamed by his famous clientele — the man behind Heidi Klum, Anne Hathaway, Liv Tyler and Jennifer Lopez’s beautiful backsides, says the perfect bikini bottom is as easy as diet and these easy-to-do exercises for your body type:
GREEN BEAN:
Boyish figures or “green beans” as Kirsch calls them, can help add plump to their posterior with simple squats. By simultaneously extending your arms out while squatting, Kirsch says, " you’re working the quadriceps a little bit, definitely working the glutes.” Do this for 15 repetitions each.
PEAR SHAPE:
Plie squats help those with natural assets SHAPE and SCULPT their way into beach backside shape. Widen your squat stance and bend down while maintaining a closed V shape with your arms. “This would be perfect for [Jennifer Lopez],” Kirsch says, “we’re looking to do at least 15 repetitions, not using any weight. That’s the beauty of it. You can do it on the beach.”
ALL BODY TYPES:
The supermodel inspired “Sumo” is Heidi Klum’s favorite and helps work the butt, hips and thighs. The exercise is a 4-move cardio combo of a roundhouse kick, squat, side kick and jump. Do this for 10-15 reps. Once you’ve mastered these moves, don’t be afraid to mix and match. Not only will it help advance your workout, Kirsch says, but it will help work your lower body simultaneously “it’s gotta be symmetrical. The hips and the butt and the legs and the thighs all have to work together and these exercises are great for that!”
DIET TIP:
Eating right helps too! “You wanna keep it clean and lean,” Kirsch says “stay away from a lot of dairy… excess sugar… alcohol, candy things like that. Processed carbs… you wanna be tight.”
