LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Music’s biggest stars have been known to adopt alter-egos from time to time – Beyonce channels Sasha Fierce, Garth Brooks became Chris Gaines for an entire album and David Bowie transformed into the unforgettable Ziggy Stardust in the ‘70s – but Jennifer Lopez is not becoming the mysterious Lola.
In advance of J.Lo’s upcoming new album, “Love?” dropping in January, the singer has released the dance track “Fresh Out of the Oven,” featuring rapper Pitbull. The track will not be appearing on her new album, but has spawned a Web site and Twitter account featuring a dancing diva named Lola, sparking rumors that J.Lo might be taking on a new identity.
But according to a source close to the singer, Lola is not sticking around.
“Lola is just for this song, it’s not her ongoing persona,” the source told People “It’s something fun. She hasn’t become Sasha Fierce. There won’t be anything to do with Lola on her ‘Love?’ album.”
J.Lo’s record label also confirmed that Lola wouldn’t be hanging around too long on Jenny’s block.
“This is a hot club record that the label loved and Jennifer thought was fun,” Amanda Ghost, president of Epic Records told People. “Jennifer and Pitbull got together and the record leaked. Lola is a fun character just for this song.”
