Jessica Simpson’s bundle of joy has finally arrived!
The 31-year-old star and fiance Eric Johnson welcomed a baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson, on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
“Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson,” the star said in a message posted on her personal website on Tuesday morning. “We are so grateful for all the love support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!”
The couple’s baby weighed in at 9 lbs. 13 ounces and measured 21.75 inches.
Baby Maxwell’s middle name comes from Jessica’s grandmother, Tina Simpson, whose maiden name is Drew.
On Tuesday, Jessica’s dad, Joe Simpson Tweeted, “Proud PaPaJoe !! Beautiful baby girl… What a miracle!”
Prior to giving birth, Jessica was active on Twitter, sending out a slew of pregnancy related Tweets, including, “I just woke up from a dream that I wore a leopard caftan in the hospital. Fabulous!! Now I need to find one!” and “I can’t wait for the day I can walk in heels again!… My feet feel homesick!”
The bubbly “Fashion Star” mentor will presumably begin planning her wedding to Eric now that she has welcomed Maxwell into the world, as Jessica has said she didn’t want her baby bump to interfere with her wedding dress.
“I want him to be my husband so bad,” she told Jay Leno in an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” in March. “I do still want to wear the pretty gown, so I have to wait.”
Jessica and Eric, 32, got engaged in November 2010 after dating for six months.
This is their first child.
