NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. --
Jessica Simpson was a heartbreaker Tuesday night, canceling on two very important men in her life, boyfriend Tony Romo — and Elmo!
Jessica was scheduled to fly from Nashville to New York Tuesday to help with Macy’s 150th anniversary celebration, but severe rains caused Jessica’s flight to be delayed, People reported.
The country singer was scheduled to sing “Happy Birthday” to Sesame Street’s Elmo.
Eva Mendes, Tommy Hilfiger and Martha Stewart were on hand for the Macy’s celebration, which was wrapping up by the time Jessica arrived with hairstylist Ken Paves in tow.
“I’m so, so sorry!” she said as she entered Gotham Hall. “[I wish] I could be God and control the weather.”
Jessica’s boyfriend, Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback Tony Romo, had hoped she would have missed the event all together.
“Tony was just praying [that I wouldn’t make it out]. He had planned a really romantic date in case I didn’t make it [to New York] tonight,” Jessica told People.”[But], I decided to come… I’m like, ‘Honey, I have to go.’”
It appears Tony was sympathetic about Jessica’s crazy schedule, she told the mag that “his heart” makes him such a catch.
