LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski on the season finale on ‘The Bachelorette’ Caption Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski on the season finale on ‘The Bachelorette’ “The Bachelorette” Jillian Harris finally got her man.

After weeks of competition from a slew of eligible suitors, Canadian cutie Jillian picked Chicago computer software consultant Ed Swiderski on Monday’s season finale — and Ed promptly popped the question.

The episode began with Ed still competing with California business developer Kiptyn Locke for Jillian’s love, both of whom Jillian’s parents gave their approval to.

In true “Bachelorette” style, after Jillian broke the news to Kiptyn that he was not her choice (much to his as surprise, as he revealed to the cameras beforehand he was ready to propose), the show threw viewers a twist when realtor Reid Rosenthal – who had been dismissed last week – arrived and pleaded to be Jillian’s choice.

“I have fallen in love with somebody,” an emotional Jillian told Reid before sending him away yet again. “I can’t let them go now.”

With both Reid and Kiptyn out of the picture, Ed arrived in a white limo for the big moment.

“I want to be with you forever. I want to have a family with you. I want you to give me a hard time when we’re 80 years old,” Ed said, while kneeling and placing a $60,000 Neil Lane platinum and diamond ring on his sweetheart’s finger. “Jillian, will you marry me?”

“Absolutely!” Jillian exclaimed.

The happy couple toasted their engagement with champagne.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Ed in his courtship of Jillian. Five episodes into the season, he decided to quit the show and return to his job in Chicago. He then later returned when the competition was down to only five men left, much to Jillian’s delight.

The reality romance drama will continue on Tuesday night when Jillian, Ed and all of her suitors reunite for the “After The Final Rose” reunion episode at 10 PM EST on ABC.
