Madden, the frontman of rockers Good Charlotte, tricked fans over the weekend, posting a message on his Web site, claiming the two had gotten hitched.

“WE DID IT!! NICOLE AND I FINALLY GOT MARRIED!! Click here for pictures!!” Madden wrote.

Fans who clicked were directed to a link of two gorillas in wedding attire.

Madden appeared prompted into leaving the gag on his Web site after Star magazine ran an article suggesting he and Richie had a $2 million wedding coming up.

“So I feel really stupid even posting this, but I’ve been getting calls and texts from my family all week asking me why they weren’t invited to my wedding,” he wrote. “I guess the only answer I could give them was that I didn’t know we were having one!”
