John Mayer: I Serenaded A Woman With Fifty Shades Of Grey

While visiting “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, the musician revealed he struck out with one woman after attempting to serenade her with a page from the EL James book “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

“I met this girl not long ago, and I was trying to impress her and she had ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ on the Kindle and I said, ‘I’m gonna sing it to you,’” he recounted. “And so, I sang one of the pages of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.’”

Asked what happened after his serenade, John explained he didn’t get the reaction he was hoping for.

“She fell. She fell to the ground laughing and I think that was the only way I could make her laugh,” he said. “I sold out, completely.

“She didn’t really get it though, ‘Like, I’m not singing for a year and I just sang you ‘Fifty Shades of Grey,’” he added, referring to his upcoming year off from singing, due to a surgery and follow up treatment to fix a condition in his throat.

As for the book, John admitted he’s not a convert.

“It was steamy, and it didn’t rhyme, which is my big problem,” he laughed.
