John Travolta
overview
Smart talking and not-too-bright “Vinnie Barbarino” was the hands-down most popular character on the series “Welcome Back, Kotter” and the character launched John Travolta's meteoric career in the mid-to-late 70's. Following "Kotter", Travolta scored back-to-back-to-back iconic film movie moments with “Saturday Night Fever,” “Grease” and “Urban Cowboy.” John Travolta was perhaps the hottest celebrity in Hollywood as the 80's dawned in America.
Then a string of bad career choices sidelined his career so badly that it took a dozen years to make his comeback – which eventually came with his role as the slightly inept enforcer in the bloody Quentin Tarantino cult classic “Pulp Fiction.” That led to a series of hits, followed by yet another downturn. Currently, he's deservedly back on top again with yet another series of box office hits including “Wild Hogs” and “Hairspray.”
