Johnny Depp takes a romp with Eva Green, out of the bedroom, and into out-of-this-world territory in Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows,” and the actor and director both told Access Hollywood it was a unique scene to shoot.
“We’ve seen enough phony sex scenes that we thought we should make it real for a change,” Tim laughed, playing down, in jest, the outrageous romp. “[It’s] expensive sex with a lot of trashing of rooms… It’s fun though.”
“You read it on the page, and it reads a certain way, and you see Eva Green, who is one of the most stunning and brilliant women on the planet, and then suddenly, you’re being strapped together by wires and you know, straps and things like that and then hurled across the room and then bashed into a wall,” Johnny added, speaking to Access at the film’s junket over the weekend in Los Angeles. “Basically, it was a lot of fun.”
In theaters on May 11, “Dark Shadows,” came about after Johnny brought up the late 1960s soap opera while he and Tim were on the set of “Sweeney Todd.”
“[I said], we should do a vampire movie, like a real kind of vampire thing,’” Johnny recounted.
Although Johnny and Tim are friends, the actor said he is always grateful to be cast in one of the director’s projects.
“When we work together, I mean, it’s not like I’m sort of expecting, ‘Well whatever Tim’s doing next…’ You never know. I’m still like excited when I get the call that says, ‘Hey man, what about this?’ I’m still as excited as when they called and said, ‘Hey, you’re Edward Scissorhands,’” Johnny said.
