LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Johnny Knoxville in 2006Caption Johnny Knoxville in 2006Johnny Knoxville was detained by authorities at Los Angeles International Airport this morning after a Transportation Security Administration officer suspected him of having a grenade in his handbag, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The former ”Jackass” star, whose real name is John Philip Clapp, was stopped by airport police as he was about to board a 7 AM flight to Miami after the TSA official saw what looked to be a hand grenade.

According to authorities, the LAPD Bomb Squad was called in and they “determined the hand-grenade had no explosives or firing pin.”

The actor explained to authorities that the grenade was a prop from a photo shoot. The star said he had forgotten it was in his bag.

Knoxville was released following the investigation, but authorities told Access they would file a misdemeanor criminal complaint with the Los Angeles City Attorney for bringing a prohibited item into an airport.
