LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
If your record tanked and your label has cut you loose – Kara DioGuardi wants to give you another shoot at stardom!
According to New York Magazine’s Vulture blog, the “American Idol” judge is shopping around a new reality show about giving music artists a second chance.
“It’s called ‘Dropped.’ I’m starting to shop it now,” she told the mag Tuesday night at the G-Star Raw fashion show at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
“It takes the best acts that have been dropped and gives them a second chance. You look at Katy Perry, the Jonas Brothers, Alicia Keys, and Lady Gaga, they all have one thing in common: They’ve all been dropped from their labels,” she continued. “I was dropped. Think about how many times in your life you haven’t achieved one goal, but you’ve achieved another one.”
But will Kara be the host of the show if it gets picked up?
“Oh, my God, now we’re getting into particulars,” she told the mag. “All right, maybe! I shouldn’t have opened my big mouth.”
As NY Mag pointed out “American Idol” alums Katherine McPhee, Taylor Hicks, and Ruben Studdard – who have all been dropped by their labels, in addition to other dropped “Idol” alums Blake Lewis, Diana DeGarmo, Bo Bice – might get another shot at success on the singer/songwriter/producer’s new show.
Kara will return the “Idol” judge’s table when Season 9 premieres in January 2010 with Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and new judge, Ellen DeGeneres.
