Kelly Rutherford Talks Children's Justice Campaign

It’s Kelly Rutherford’s traumatic custody battle that led her to join the Children’s Justice Campaign, to help fight for hers and other children’s rights.

Now to part two of our interview with Kelly Rutherford. We sat down with her and her attorney. They asked for an emergency federal court hearing last week hoping the judge would overturn the previous ruling allowing her to raise her kids in the U.S. But it failed. It was very frustrating. And at the end of the day, the judge said that he didn't think he had jurisdiction over the matter. What the judge was asking was could you site that I have jurisdiction. I said no because no judge had ever sent American children to live in a foreign country before. Halle berry lives down the hall from me and she was fighting just to be able to go to France with her daughter and she was denied. I have every intention of filing the court orders. I've never done anything but follow the court orders. I've been bankrupted through this. I've been very patient. I don't think I'm asking for very much to say on behalf of my children, hey, let's look at the dad now. What is he doing? Kelly claims what her ex wasn't doing was reapplying for a Visa. Kelly's been ordered by a court to support his Visa request. He was supposed to request a Visa and never did. So here she's complying saying please I support his request and he's not filing. And he still hasn't filed. Here's the question for him and his lawyers. Why are you not even trying to let your own children be raised in their own country? They're not French. He's not French. Kelly's not French. Why are the children being raised in France? I mean, they say why don't you move to France. Okay, so now I'm supposed to move to France? How am I going to work there? I don't speech French. It's Kelly's battle that led her to join the children's justice campaign also supported by Christie Brinkley who went through her own divorce and custody drama to help fight for hers and other children's rights. She's been through an ordeal that should never happen to any mother. When it comes to divorce, there's got to be a better way to do this. To think that Kelly had her children taken from her is unconscionable. Children of illegal aliens in this country have more due process rights than what Kelly's kids got. That is an outrage. The attorney for Kelly's ex-husband told us he will not join in Kelly's public debate saying, quote, keeping quiet is sometimes a tough but important responsibility for Daniel in order to protect the party's children.
