Kim Kardashian: Baby Weight Criticism 'Hurt My Soul'
Kim Kardashian – who will soon “probably” be known as Kim West – has opened up about how the media coverage of her weight gain while she was pregnant with daughter North “really did affect” her.
“It really hurt my soul,” Kim, who has dropped 50 pound since giving birth, said Wednesday night on “The Tonight Show.”
“I was gaining weight because I was pregnant, and it was just really hard to read all these stories and hear all these nasty things,” she told Jay Leno. “Why would I subject myself to so much negativity, especially now that I have a daughter? I’ve definitely tried to live more of a private life because of that.”
The reality star’s recent racy bathing suit Instagram shot (check out Kim rocking a white bathing suit in a dressing room!) was her way of shutting up her haters.
“I was trying on a bathing suit, and I actually just sent that to my boyfriend, my fiance, and I was like, ‘Babe, can I post this up? This is my big, like, middle finger to the world on everyone that called me fat,’” the 33-year-old explained.
Kim also told Jay that she will most likely drop her famous last name and plans on taking Kanye’s name after the wedding.
“I’m probably going to have Kardashian as my middle name and then West,” she told Jay. “My daughter has the last name West, and we’re a family, so I want to definitely be West.”
Kim’s name change could come as early as next summer, as she and Kanye could pick “somewhere destinational” [sic] for their nuptials.
“Someplace Parisian” she revealed. “Or who knows? I got pregnant when we were in Italy. Maybe Italy? We haven’t even talked about it…Maybe I’ll pick the place and then he can plan it.”
And when she walks down the aisle, Kim said that she’ll “of course” have stepdad Bruce Jenner walk her down, despite his separation with mom Kris Jenner.
As for her newborn, Kim is overjoyed with her daughter and hopes she follows in her famous dad’s footsteps.
“She’s the sweetest little girl. She never cries,” Kim said of her 4-month-old daughter. “She’s a perfect little angel. I hope she grows up to be smart and opinionated like her dad.”
