Kristen Bell's 'Veronica Mars' Movie Nerves
“Veronica Mars” is heading to the big screen and star Kristen Bell is hoping the fans who funded the film via Kickstarter are impressed with the results.
“Our Kickstarters who funded the movie are my priority, so I’m a bit nervous. Not nervous, but I’m hoping that everybody leaves the theaters satisfied,” Kristen told Access Hollywood at the New York City premiere of the film on Monday night. “If new fans like it or people [who] didn’t Kickstart the movie, that’s just an added bonus for me.”
The film looks at the characters from the UPN and later The CW drama, several years after college. Veronica (Kristen) is in a relationship with Piz (Chris Lowell), when her ex – Logan (Jason) – finds himself at the center of a murder investigation after his girlfriend winds up dead in a bathtub. Veronica is drafted in to help.
“It’s hard to describe what you won’t expect,” Kristen said when asked about the film. “I mean, [creator] Rob [Thomas’] brain, when cracked wide open, is quite profound and scary and entertaining and wonderful. But it’s the same level of quality that we had in the series, just in movie form.”
The film will have more than the original gang. There are cameos from Kristen’s real life husband, Dax Shepard, and James Franco among others.
“We just made a bunch of phone calls and asked people to be involved,” Kristen said.
“We just lucked out that everyone wanted to be involved,” she said of celebrity guest stars, who also include Jamie Lee Curtis and Justin Long.
And Kristen thinks the “Veronica Mars” franchise could continue on.
“I think it could lead to just about anywhere our fans want it to go,” she said, adding she is “absolutely” on board if that happens.
“Veronica Mars” hits theaters on March 14.
