-- CNN’s Larry King and friends raised $1.81 million on Monday night with a telethon for people and wildlife in the Gulf coast area affected by the oil spill.

King was joined by co-host Ryan Seacrest and a slew of celebrities who took calls and monitored incoming Tweets about the BP oil spill off the coast of Louisiana.

Kathy Griffin, Randy Jackson, Ke$ha, Ian Somerhalder, Gavin Rossdale, Pete Wentz, Nicole Richie, Jenny McCarthy, Tyson Ritter, Juliana Rancic, Victoria Principal, Ted Danson and Aaron Neville were among the stars that lent their support to the cause on Monday.

According to CNN, funds raised on Monday’s telethon will help the United Way, National Wildlife Federation and The Nature Conservancy.

On Tuesday, the Associated Press reported that BP would donate proceeds made from the leaking well to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
