LONDON, U.K. --
Leona Lewis was attacked at a book signing in London on Wednesday afternoon, a Scotland Yard spokesperson confirmed to Access Hollywood.
The “Bleeding Love” singer, who was signing copies of her new autobiography, “Dreams,” was slapped at Waterstone’s bookstore in Piccadilly. The assailant was arrested for actual bodily harm while the star was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to the spokesperson.
“Leona was the victim of an unprovoked attack this afternoon at her book signing,” a rep for Leona said in a statement to Access. “The police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought. Leona is understandably shaken and apologizes to the fans she was unable to meet and complete signings.”
Her new album, “Echo,” is due later this year.
