Lindsay Lohan: 'Anything That's Changed In My Life Is Because Of Me'

Lindsay Lohan has credited a new influence in her life for helping the actress move past rehab and a DUI conviction – herself.

Despite her penchant for holding hands and regularly being no more than an arm’s length from DJ Samantha Ronson, Lindsay said she is the one responsible for her latest examples of grown-up behavior.

“She’s a great person,” Lindsay told the October issue of Marie Claire about Ronson. “And she’s a great influence on people around her. But I think that anything that’s changed in my life is because of me. I’ve gone through it and I’ve had to deal with it and I’ve made the decision to move forward.”

Beyond getting to work on time and hitting the party scene a lot less frequently, Lindsay admitted her new attitude has meant other changes in her life. For starters, she gave her mother, Dina, two puppies she previously purchased on “a whim.”

“I wasn’t in the right headspace [to take care of them],” she told the mag.

She also revealed she is hoping to settle into a more permanent abode by buying a house “with someone,” after living in hotels for years.

“I didn’t like to live alone, so whatever I needed I could just go downstairs and there were people there,” Lindsay said of her check-in, check-out past. “It wasn’t a way of life.”

Another big change in the actress’ life? Her relationship with her father, Michael, who she said she had an incident with, which affected her while on a set.

“There was this one day when something happened with my dad, and my best friend’s grandmother passed away, and I was upset, and everyone [on set] kind of changed, and I felt it,” she said. “But it’s hard, because then, when do you feel?”

It was recently revealed that Lindsay’s dad may have a teenage daughter with a woman other than Lindsay’s mother. When asked about the situation, Lindsay hinted it has affected her relationship with Michael.

“I don’t know what’s going on with it,” she said. “I haven’t asked him any questions. Apparently we’ve been in the dark for so many years. We’ve gone through enough with him. Enough is enough.”

While Lindsay noted her relationship with Michael is in a cooling off period “until he decides to be a grown-up,” one relationship that remains strong is the one with Samantha. She confirmed the two are so close they have matching tattoos.

“Samantha has a bunch of stars, so I got that. And she got this” Lindsay said, noting a heart.

And as for finally putting the rumors she and Samantha are an item to rest, Lindsay remained coy.

“Um, people can think what they want. I’m really happy, and that’s all that matters,” she told the mag.
