Lindsay Lohan Tells Matt Lauer She's Ready To Win Back Hollywood
Lindsay Lohan says she’s turned over a new leaf in her exclusive sitdown interview with Matt Lauer ahead of her hosting gig this weekend on “Saturday Night Live.”
Lohan famously blew off an interview with Lauer in June of 2011.
Finally reconnecting for the taped segment, which will air on the “Today” show on Thursday, March 1, Lohan admitted to Lauer that the last time they spoke, she was in denial.
“Definitely,” Lohan told Lauer in excerpts released by the “Today” show on Tuesday. “And I think it was — it’s a scary thing to have to kind of express to people… I wasn’t as comfortable with myself then. I think it was a fear factor that I had about what was really going on. And, you know, I had to get that wakeup call.”
While she feels she’s changed, the recent Playboy magazine cover star said she understands it will take time for Hollywood to put aside its opinion of the actress who has been in jail multiple times over the last several years and in and out of court.
“I think that that’s gonna take — I think that takes time,” Lohan said of Hollywood realizing they can once again “bank” on the star. “And I think that it’s actions. Because people can say things all they want, but I think I still need to go through the process of proving myself, you know, with ‘SNL,’ being on time, being, you know, keeping my — can’t say the word — but stuff together.”
Lohan also confirmed news first reported by Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush earlier this month – that she’s been cast as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime movie “Liz & Dick,” which is dependent upon her continual positive court reports.
“We start production soon,” Lohan told Lauer. “I’ve been doing tons of research. But I’ve always kind of researched her. She’s always been a fascinating woman to me. So I’m really honored. And I will not let anyone down, especially myself.”
Lohan added that she is back and she is ready to work.
“I don’t want people to have that reason to be scared anymore,” she said. “So being able to have this opportunity with ‘SNL’ and the film, I’m gonna do what I’m supposed to do, and enjoy doing it, and do it as best as I can.”
