Could Mr. Eko be among the dead characters returning to “Lost” for the ABC drama’s final season? Actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje hopes so.

“Fans of Eko should have hope,” he told Entertainment Weekly of his former character, who was killed in Season 3. “I loved playing that character.”

And while the star has gone on to other roles – he plays Heavy Duty in summer blockbuster “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” – he said the fans haven’t forgotten him.

“Even at Comic-Con this year I went to sign my action figure for ‘G.I. Joe’ and people had tons of questions about ‘Lost,’” he said. “It makes you feel good that you could be off a show for more than a year and still have people thinking about your character. It was a great part.”

Adewale added that he hasn’t signed any contracts yet or shot any scenes, but he noted he’s had “talks” with the show.

“Adewale is open for business,” he said. “There are other dead folks coming back allegedly but at the moment it is still a maybe. A strong maybe.”

Among the other characters in the mix to return are Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Boone (Ian Somerhalder), who have both confirmed they will be back.

Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) is also rumored to be making an appearance, although he told reporters last week that producers had yet to make it happen.

The sixth and final season of “Lost” debuts in early 2010.
