“12 Years A Slave” star Lupita Nyong’o has been the fashion darling of awards season, but it wasn’t planned.
“It wasn’t on my agenda,” Lupita told Access Hollywood guest correspondent, Fandango’s Dave Karger, at the Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon on Monday. “I didn’t wake up one morning and say, ‘One day, I’m going to be a style icon!’ So… it’s been amazing to have that bestowed on me and to have so many people celebrate my style. And it’s been fun, also.”
Lupita once again had heads turning as she donned Dior for the Oscars 2014 class photo on Monday.
“I knew I was going for a luncheon so that felt like [an] appropriate [choice],” Lupita said. “And I like the colors. … It’s springy as well.”
With the Oscars just a few weeks away, Lupita must have her dress for the big night on her mind, but she wasn’t sharing any details.
“Mum’s the word,” she said. “I plead the fifth, completely.”
