Madonna Celebrates 50th With Family, Close Friends

LONDON, U.K. -- Caption Madonna appears backstage at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.(2006)It was a small affair for a big birthday. Madonna celebrated her big 5-0 with just 60 family members and close friends on Saturday night at the hip London club Volstead.

And despite a recent ankle injury, the Material Mom danced with her kids Lourdes, Rocco and David to a number of her own hits. Equally happy at the party, which raged on till 3 AM, was Guy Ritchie, who organized the bash.

Among the night’s other highlights were Lourdes singing to her mother on the piano, David Blaine doing a series of card tricks, and Madge enjoying her red velvet birthday cake.

Not surprisingly, Madonna was up and in the gym the next morning, preparing for her “Sticky & Sweet” world tour, which kicks off on Saturday in Cardiff, Wales
