NEW YORK, N.Y. --

Robert “Joe” Halderman, the man accused of trying to extort $2 million from David Letterman, is taking a new approach to speaking to reporters – a polite one.

Over the weekend, Halderman yelled at reporters who stopped by the CBS “48 Hours” producer’s home in Norwalk, Conn., according to the NY Daily News.

“Get off my property or I’ll call the police,” he shouted, according to the paper. “This is a private road. If I see one more of you guys on this road, I will call the cops.”

But when Fox News New York stopped by his home on Thursday, the producer, who remains free on $200,000 bail after pleading not guilty to attempted first-degree grand larceny, took a softer approach.

“I can’t make any comment,” Halderman told the female reporter who knocked on his door. “And I understand that you’re just trying to do your job.

“There’s nothing I can say and I hope you have a very nice day. I’m not trying to hide or run but there’s just nothing I can say,” he added.
