Mayim Bialik talks on Access Hollywood Live about her connection to the attachment parenting movement. Has she noticed a change in how attachment parenting is perceived? And, Mayim is recently divorced; how does she share parental responsibilities with her ex? Plus, how is she inspiring young girls as national spokesperson for

We're back on "Access Hollywood live" with mayim Bialik. We were talking in the break how are your boys doing? They're 5 and 8. My boys are good, 5 1/2 and 8. They're getting taller and bigger and I think more interesting. More older onegrowing in the neck and wrists. Neck and wrists. It's like his head keeps getting higher up in the world and none of his shirts fit. Wow. His height, he's 85th percentile, wrists -- Long wrists. I asked you, have you connected with alee shia Silverstone we had her here recently and you're the face of attachment parenting, aren't you? I've been associated with attachment parenting. Alicia, "The kind diet" was the prominent well received vegan cookbook. She laid the road for that. She's got this new book out. She's like maybe an ally. Sure. Not a nemesis. An ally. Yeah. We've spoken personally off the record as it were. But like I said, she's been a terrific voice for veganism and now to combine that sort of with her parenting philosophy. We have a lot of similar stuff. Just like if you're not in front of cameras you meet moms and dads who parent the way you do. It's kind of cool. When people hear like attachment parenting, obviously some are a little uncomfortable and so I'm sure, you know, they've been critical of you. Sure. But do you find maybe a warming on that front over time? Yeah. I think, you know, I think once we put things out there, it's healthier than sort of everyone having their preconceived notions and not talking about it. When the "Time" magazine cover came out with a woman breastfeeding an older child it brought up negative stuff but it also gave me an opportunity and platform to say that's not all of attachment parents, not one of the requirements. A full spectrum of parenting. The more we talk about it the better. You recently got divorced. Is that conscious uncoupling? Where are we going with that term some. We consciously uncoupled a year before her. I mean look, she's Gwyneth paltrow, has a flair about everything she does. I'm not surprised. I also think it's a very -- as much kind of flack as she got for it, I think it's an interesting concept to actively and consciously make decisions about what you do and not have it be sort of whitewashed as she got divorced she was unhappy and everybody knows why. It's a positive spin to it, but behind the snickering. Right. What have you found in it? I found that the best ally to have is your ex. Because they are the gateway in the relationship with your kids. Even though mikearen't married we're these children's genetic and emotional and psychological input. Only benefits us to do things with their needs first. Uncomfortable for us. A lot of time we spend together, holidays and things like that, but if the priority is our children's well being, they understand we're divorced but for them to have passover with us both and with both sets of grandparents, I think that's got to be the best for them. I was Reading about what you were saying about divorce. Reading stories at night, sometimes the hardest, attachment parenting, everybody in bed together. Exactly. Look my boys were old enough the family bed was already pretty much not a family bed anymore. They sleep together, have a sibling bed. In the room? I'm sorry. They have their own room now. Well -- I turned my old office into a bedroom. I know. We're moving up in the world. I was saying like -- In the walking closet. Making their way. What general books are, right? It's a happy family and a lot of attachment parenting like children's books that want to show the happy family. Now we need an attachment parenting divorce. That's right. Here we go. Attachment parenting divorce. Don't call it. Gwyneth can co-author it. Talk stem here. If anyone -- if you're going to be critical of attachment parenting or anything this woman does, you must equally stand and applaud the fact that you nurture young girls in the world of science, technology, engineering and math. Bless you for doing that. Thank you. It's fun to play a neuroscientist on TV but more fun to be one in real life. I took 12 years off the industry from "Blossom" and "Access Hollywood live." -- And "The big bang theory," and March is world month and the world includes science, technology, engineering math and speak to students and what the idea is that devry is doing targeting girls younger, teaching them stem fields, give them mentorship opportunities, hands on opportunities to see what the fields are like. The fastest growing careers will require a stem background. It benefits all of us. If half of the population which is female is presented those things equally, so that's what her world month. Friends with Winnie cooper, Danica -- Right. She has -- she has a math degree also from ucla. Again, these are things that like -- Were you there at the same time some. We might have had a little overlap -- I was there 12 years. And urkle was there at the same time -- I know -- I was going to ucla, the place to be. That is awesome. Oh, man. This is great. Thank you for doing that. Thank you, guys. If you have a young girl showing signs of, you know, accomplishment in that area, this a website?
