LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

The “Men In Black” are coming back – again.

“Tropic Thunder” writer Etan Cohen will pen a third film in the Will Smith/Tommy Lee Jones franchise, according to Variety.

The two stars have yet to sign on officially to the in-development sci-fi comedy, though it’s reportedly “unlikely” that it would move forward without the pair.

1997’s “Men In Black” earned over $250 million at the box office, making it Columbia Picture’s highest grossing film at the time since “Ghostbusters.” (The “Spider-Man” franchise would later eclipse that number for the studio.) A sequel, 2002’s “Men In Black II,” earned the smaller but still impressive sum of $190 million, though it faltered with critics, holding just a 38% rating on RottenTomatoes.com.

Should he take on the role of Agent J again, another “Men In Black” won’t be the only sequel on Will’s radar – he’s also set to return in the title role of “Hancock 2.”
