Meredith Vieira Addresses Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony Security Concerns

Meredith Vieira chats with Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Access Hollywood Live about hosting the Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony with Matt Lauer. Does she have any concerns about security and their safety? Plus, who does she predict are the athletes to watch? And, what details can she share about her new daytime TV show, “The Meredith Vieira Show?” The P&G special “Raising an Olympian” airs Wednesday February 5th at 8 PM and NBC’S coverage of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games Begins the following day, February 6th.

Joins us after this message from your local station. I'm guess they couldn't hold you back. I love the games. My first one was beijing and then Vancouver and London. You cannot be a cynic and experience this. Meredith Vieira. I think I was standing a little close. Close talker. Meredith Vieira, in London, both be back to sochi. Meredith going to co-host the opening name with Matt Lauer. Meredith is joining us now. All everybody is tracking about is security. How do you feel about this? I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a concerned. We've all talk about it. Talked to people at NBC about our safety. But at the end of the day, I'm fairly philosophical. I can't control what's going to happen. It's going to be the most security conscience olympics in history and it's my job to go there and do the best job I can while remaining vigilant and keeping an eye out on my surroundings, and those people involved in security will do their job. If somebody happened, Billy will jump in front of me and throw his body -- He will be over you so fast. With been talking about the NBC evacuation list. I assume Costas has to go first. Raise him into the helicopter. Lauer is probably -- but Meredith Vieira, if by some chance my named ended up on the list were Meredith, I would scoop her up in my arms and together we would go up into the helicopter. I think they're investing a lot in my new show so they don't want me to stay there. At least one year until they get their money's reporting. Did you think, on a serious note, you have to think that NBC knows exactly what is going on, the U.S. Military knows what is going on. And no one is going if there is a real threat they think something could happen. Right? Sure. I think everybody thinks somebody possibly could happen, but if they thought it was really a great likelihood, I don't think they would put all of news harm's way. I don't. But having said that, none of us know. But you can walk out on the street and won't know what is going to happen. I'm so excited about the games. I feel like for me -- I don't know much about the athletes. I love the become stories. Who am I going to fall in love with? I still love Mel Davis and Charlie white, the ice dancers. They won the silver in Vancouver. I think nick againer, a new event this year. Style skiing and sort of like snowboarding except on skis, and he is a guy that grew up in Indiana. Indiana. People would love and say, that's where you're from? And here he is at the olympics, because he followed his dreams and his parents made at it reality by letting him leave home when he was 15 and train in -- train in Oregon. You hear that a lot. I don't want to name individuals. People will pop up. Michaela, the youngest world champion in slalom in 30 years, and will be out there, her first olympics, and the paraolympics always have fabulous athletes. Marry ticket, you're doing the primetime special how to raise an olympian. Lindsey vonn is part of that but since dropping out because of the injury do you update the interview or what's the status? No. It's about how she got from a to B, what made her an olympian. She talks a lot about her mom. Her mom had a stroke when she gave birth to Lindsey, and took hear lot to come back, and could never do what Lindsey was doing. So Lindsey was skiing for her mom. Her mom was always there, always cheering her on, and that's where Lindsey got a lot of her drive from and her determination. She saw the way her mom handled adversity and said, if my mom can deal with that. I can deal with whatever it takes to be the the best my sport, and unfortunately because of injuries she was able to make it to sochi. She is heartbroken and see are we. But the story doesn't change. We have Sfw and then the Meredith Vieira show in September, and you're going it alone. You've been with Matt, the ladies of "The view." Carried them on your back. You carried kit Hoover in a very important moment. She was filling in on "The view" and you tide something for her. Sharon stone was on and I made her ask by asking her about basic instinct 2 and if she was going to wear underwear, and she got upset and you wrote me a note. It was a dumb question but I was 20, I'm still dumb. No such thing as a dumb question. You were great. You were great. I was trying to find my voice. Light it up. Meredith, you look so good. Is this just happiness? Are you rested? What is the key here? I -- thank you. I don't think I look good but thank you very much. You may need glasses, hon. It may be time to bite the bullet. I said, something about her -- She is launching a talk show, ready to go. Tell us, what is -- how is it going to be different? People ask me that. Every individual brings their own personality to a show, so I am who I am, and people who like me say what they like about me is I'm authentic, and I hope you see that in the show. We're going to have a band because my dream was, after a bad day, coming home and opening the door and there would be a ban there. So I decided, it's my show, so we'll have a ban, and we're -- the furniture is from my house, Al torn up because I have two cats and a dog and they destroyed it. So I wanted people to see how I live my life. The set is designed to look exactly like our family room. We jokingly say we want to change the world a little bit every day and have fun, and that's something as simple as just putting a smile on someone's face or inspiring somebody or teaching somebody something they didn't know, and people tend to pay those things forward. So, I hope that people have fun watching this show and they leave it learning a little bit more than they knew going in and hopefully inspires them to do something to make the world a better place. I really like the show. I wish it was on today. Can't change my mind. See you new in London. London? I'm not going to sochi. I'm going back to London. You have found in sochi. I don't know about you but London sounds better to me. The winter olympics begins February 6th in sochi. Straight ahead. Talk about styles of the day,
