NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Meredith Vieira is returning to “The View.”

Vieira, who spent nine seasons as co-host the hit ABC morning gab fest will return to make her first guest appearance on the show on Monday, October 8, Access Hollywood has learned.

Vieria left the show in June 2006 to take over Katie Couric’s vacated spot on NBC’s “Today” show. She made her “Today” debut in September.

Her last “View” appearance was a special one-hour roast that featured celebrity friends and “View” regulars who recounted some of Vieria’s most outrageous and memorable moments from the show.

From her Wesley Snipes lap dance, to her liplock with Josh Duhamel, and even donning a dominatrix outfit, nothing was off limits as her fellow co-hosts bid her a fond farewell.

Fresh off of her “View” finale, she spoke with Access Hollywood’s Tim Vincent about the job transition.

“How are you feeling?” Tim asked.

“I feel good. I’ve been shedding some tears, but they are tears of joy,” Vieria said. “These are some of the most wonderful people and I’m going to miss them.”

When she returns to “The View,” Vieria will be promoting the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” soon-to-be-released DVD game.

She has hosted the hit game show for six seasons.
