LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Caption Michael Douglas on the cover of AARP magazine’s March-April 2010 issueMichael Douglas may be older than 40-year-old wife, Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones, but the 65-year-old star told the March/April 2010 issue of AARP that he’s keeping up with her in the romance department.
“At least in your head, your fire burns as brightly. Let’s not kid ourselves. But God bless her that she likes older guys,” the “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” star told the mag. “And some wonderful enhancements have happened in the last few years – Viagra, Cialis – that can make us all feel younger.”
And the actor said their relationship and family has shifted his priorities.
“My career was the most important thing in my life, followed by marriage and children. And it’s completely reversed now. I never anticipated starting a family and the joy of raising kids at my age,” he said. “I think it’s easier for me to be a good father.”
However, he admitted to failures in his fatherhood of son Cameron, 31 – who is now facing drug charges.
“I’ll assume whatever responsibilities I have to,” he said. “Would it have been better to have been around more? Absolutely. There were absences, and I was no angel.”
Still, he said, he’s hopeful for his son’s future.
“Cameron has a lot of life ahead. He now recognizes his own demons and struggles,” he said. “He’s a tough kid. … Still, he’s in a federal prison, and you’ve got some big, bad boys down there.”
