LOS ANGELES, Calif.
On Wednesday night’s “American Idol,” the Top 13 took on songs from Stevie Wonder and Whitney Houston, as the competition to find America’s next reality singing superstar rolls along.
And while the performance will prove to be the swan song for this week’s eliminated contestant – they shouldn’t feel too bad. As it turns out, singing songs by Stevie and Whitney have sent more “Idol” hopefuls home than any other artists over the show’s previous 10 seasons!

Michael Sarver, the latest castoff from “American Idol,” isn’t ready to go back to the oil rig. “I don’t think it would be a great idea to get out there and take a chance on hurting myself and not being available for the tour,” he told a teleconference Friday, a day after being eliminated from the FOX singing competition.

Michael Sarver got a crude awakening Thursday night from his “American Idol” life.
The 27-year-old oil rig worker from Jasper, Texas, made his final plea by belting out “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” but it just wasn’t slick enough for the judges to overrule the votes of viewers.
