LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino attends the KIIS-FM “Now 34 And The Jersey Shore” party at Hollywood Tower in Los Angeles, on July 11, 2010 Caption Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino attends the KIIS-FM “Now 34 And The Jersey Shore” party at Hollywood Tower in Los Angeles, on July 11, 2010 Underneath his bedazzled T-shirts, excessive bling dangling from his neck and fake tan, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino claims to be “deep.”

“I’m a very deep person,” the “Jersey Shore” star told Al Roker during an interview on NBC’s the “Today” show on Tuesday. “And that’s why I am where I am right now.”

The former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant explained that reality TV is just the start of his career in front of the camera.

“The reality [TV] was just my way in for me, that wasn’t my goal. That was just my way in to show people who I am, what I’m about,” he said. “Eventually [I want to do] movies and scripted [series.]”

The Situation also addressed concerns that his new book, “Here’s the Situation: A Guide to Creeping on Chicks, Avoiding Grenades, and Getting Your GTL on the Jersey Shore,” is misogynistic.

“It’s a humorous look or guide at being in your 20’s, eating, going out, dating, working out,” he told Al.

As for the future, The Situation said he’d be open to his future daughters dating a guy like him.

“Well, you know what, I’m going to have to do a little background check,” the MTV star joked. “You give everybody the benefit of the doubt and you can’t judge a book by its cover.”
