LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

While she found solo success last year with her album “Breakout,” Miley Cyrus isn’t looking to break away from her role as Disney’s Hannah Montana just yet.

“This movie was never meant to be the end of Hannah Montana,” Miley told Billboard of “Hannah Montana The Movie,” which follows three seasons of the popular Disney Channel show.

“The thing is, a lot of people put where the show’s future lays in my hands – and it’s not up to me. It’s up to Disney and whether they want more episodes, and we hope that they do.”

According to the music trade, the Disney Channel has retained the option to renew the show for a fourth season, with a third season soundtrack disc due this summer. The movie bows on April 10.

Still, Miley told Billboard she’s glad her fans are seeing more of who she really is.

“It’s just an honor for people to be able to relate to me and my music – and not so much the character anymore,” she said. “I can’t be Hannah Montana forever. I have to do something after this. I can’t do this when I’m 30.”

And the busy business of being Hannah has made her focus on her priorities.

“This is, like, the first time I’ve seen all my friends in seven months. It’s hard, man,” she said. “With all the stuff that goes on with this business, I only want to do something if I absolutely love it.”

The star will perform at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 5, it was announced on Thursday, her debut at the awards show.
