Miley Cyrus: Sinead O'Connor Is The Original Amanda Bynes

The music world has a new feud!

Sinead O’Connor penned a note criticizing Miley Cyrus and the “Wrecking Ball” singer has fired back!

The Irish songstress took Miley to task in a lengthy letter for “licking sledgehammers” and “pimping” herself.

“I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way ‘cool’ to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos,” Sinead wrote in the piece, posted on her personal website. “It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether [it’s] the music business or yourself doing the pimping. Nothing but harm will come in the long run, from allowing yourself to be exploited, and it is absolutely NOT in ANY way an empowerment of yourself or any other young [woman], for you to send across the message that you are to be valued (even by you) more for your sexual appeal than your obvious talent.”

Adding, “You have enough talent that you don’t need to let the music business make a prostitute of you… Your records are good enough for you not to need any shedding of Hannah Montana. She’s waaaaaaay gone by now.. Not because you got naked but because you make great records.”

And Miley, not one to stay quiet, has responded.

“Before Amanda Bynes…. There was….,” Miley Tweeted on Thursday, linking to a photo of a slew of January 2012 Tweets believed to be written by Sinead, where the “Nothing Compares” singer reveals she is in “danger” and “desperately” needs to get “back on meds.” (See the photo Miley posted.)

Miley also posted a photo of Sinead’s infamous 1992 “Saturday Night Live” appearance where she tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II and told viewers, “fight the real enemy.”

In an odd (and seemingly great when it comes to possible sketches) coincidence, Miley will serve as host and musical guest this week on “SNL.”
