Yahoo! has tallied up their top searches of 2010 and this year six celebrities made the cut.
While the top two searches of the year went to the oil spill debacle in the Gulf of Mexico and the World Cup in South Africa, Miley Cyrus earned the honors of the Year’s Most Searched Person on Yahoo!
Miley was a fixture on the cyber scene this past year, with the ending of her long-running Disney show, “Hannah Montana,” her on-again off-again relationship with now ex-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, her provocative dance moves in an Adam Shankman video, her parents’ highly-publicized split and the most recent video leak of her holding a bong smoking what was reported to be the herb Salvia.
Following Miley on the list of most searched celebrities was reality queen, Kim Kardashian. The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star was quite busy in 2010, earning her a spot at the top of The Daily Beast’s “Highest Paid Reality TV Stars” list. On Yahoo!‘s Most Searched list, she was #4 overall.
Thanks to her loyal “monsters,” Lady Gaga was the third most searched celebrity and the 5th highest search overall on Yahoo! this past year. With six number one hits, a wildly debated meat dress, and her passionate support of gay rights and the repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” Lady Gaga continued to embrace the spotlight in 2010.
Following Miley, Kim and Gaga, the top Yahoo! entertainment-related searches rounded out with Megan Fox at #7, Justin Bieber at #8, American Idol at and Britney Spears at #10.
In addition, several celebrities scored high on Yahoo!’s other 2010 Year In Review lists. Lindsay Lohan ranked #2 on their “10 Obsessions of 2010” list, while Conan O’Brien took the top spot on their “Ignominious Exits” list and Sandra Bullock placed #3 on their “Cheat Sheet” list.
