America’s latest Miss USA winner is a California model and self-described history geek, obsessed with Britain’s monarchy of centuries past but also a fan of “Star Wars.”
Alyssa Campanella of Los Angeles says on Twitter that she was born in the wrong time period and played the popular pig-exploding game Angry Bird backstage on her iPad before the pageant Sunday night.

Fifty-one beauty queens from around the country planned to smile and strut before a panel of judges and a live audience in Sin City on Sunday night to determine the country’s next Miss USA.
The winner will replace Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih, and be America’s representative at the Miss Universe pageant in Brazil in September.

The “Miss USA” pageant is this Sunday in Las Vegas. It’s sure to be a hearty serving of glitz, glam and bikini-clad beauties.

2010 is turning out to be a pretty gay year for new music releases. With hotly anticipated new releases from Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguilera, Cyndi Lauper and Cher on the horizon for summer, the divas are out in full force.
Not to be outdone in grabbing a piece of the LGBT music-buying audience is rocker Melissa Etheridge (albeit, coming from a completely different sub-genre than the aforementioned), who is out with her tenth studio album this week; her finest album of new material since 1999’s “Breakdown.”
