‘The Hurt Locker’ director Kathryn Bigelow is a first time nominee at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, as well as only the fourth female ever nominated for Best Director. The nine-time nominated film depicts the lives of U.S. soldiers stationed in Iraq as part of Bravo Company, the bomb disposal unit currently stationed in Baghdad. With only a month left to serve, the elite soldiers try to survive while taking on the most dangerous task in the war: disarming bombs in the middle of battle.
