LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- NBC has picked up three new shows already for the 2010-11 primetime season.
Angela Bromstad, President of Primetime Entertainment at the network, confirmed the network has picked up “The Event,” a dramatic thriller, “Outsourced,” a comedy and “Love Bites,” which is being described as a “romantic anthology series.”
“Love Bites” pairs up “Ugly Betty’s” Becki Newton with Jordana Spiro from the TBS comedy “My Boys,” as the two remaining single girls in a group of friends who have all married.
“Love-aholic” Jennifer Love Hewitt appears as a guest star in the pilot, which is packed with a host of well-known actors. Also popping up in the pilot are “Sex and The City’s” Jason Lewis, Lauren Conrad’s boyfriend Kyle Howard, “The Office’s” Craig Robinson, Lindsay Price from “Lipstick Jungle” and “Eastwick” and Greg Grunberg of “Heroes.”
The team that brought “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “Love Actually” to the big screen – Working Title Films – have formed a new division, Working Title Television, which is making the series in association with Universal Media Studios.
“The Event” stars Jason Ritter, who is investigating the mysterious disappearance of his fiancee, Leila, played by Sarah Roemer from “Disturbia.”
Jason’s character will uncover a cover up that could reach all the way to Blair Underwood, who plays newly elected U.S. President Martinez.
“Outsourced” centers on a class of cultures in the Midwest. The series focuses on the all-American company Mid America Novelties that sells whoopee cushions, foam fingers and wallets made of bacon — and whose call center has suddenly been outsourced to India.
The series stars off-Broadway star Todd Dempsy and Rizwan Manji from “Better Off Ted.”
