LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
A day after being charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon and hit-and-run, Adnan Ghalib turned himself into authorities on Wednesday.
Ghalib, Britney Spears’ 36-year-old former paparazzi boyfriend, was in Van Nuys Superior Court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges, which stem from a January 30 incident in which where Ghalib allegedly “rammed” his car into a process server.
The photographer was released after posting $110,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 2.
“The victim was allegedly serving a temporary restraining order obtained by Spears’s father on paparazzi photographer Adnan Ghalib’s Encino apartment complex. Ghalib allegedly got into his car and drove it toward the victim,” according to a statement from the District Attorney’s office.
“To avoid being penned against a trash truck, the victim allegedly jumped on the hood of Ghalib’s Mercedes and hung on as the defendant swerved the car,” the statement continued. “The victim later fell off, breaking his wrist and sustaining other injuries. The defendant allegedly drove away without stopping.”
If convicted, Ghalib faces up to seven years in prison, authorities said.
