LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Jack Bauer is getting some new help.

Freddie Prinze Jr., Katee Sackhoff and a number of other stars, will be joining Kiefer Sutherland for the new eighth season of “24.”

Freddie will be playing the role of Cole Ortiz, an ex-Marine who runs the division’s Field Operations and is looking to follow in the footsteps of Kiefer’s character, Jack Bauer. Katee will be appearing as expert data analyst, Dana Walsh.

In addition to Freddie and Katee, other accomplished stars including Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd, Jennifer Westfeldt and Chris Diamantopoulos will join the season’s daylong drama.

Mykelti will be shaking up the CTU by playing the new head honcho, Brian Hastings. John will be playing a system analyst, Chris will serve as the president’s new Chief of Staff, and Jennifer will portray an ambitious journalist.

As previously announced, “Slumdog Millionaire” star Anil Kapoor will also appear in the upcoming season as a Middle Eastern leader on a peacemaking mission.

The new cast will join returning favorites including Kiefer Sutherland, Cherry Jones, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Annie Wersching.

Season eight returns with a two-night four-hour premiere on January 17, 2010 on FOX. This year the action will take place in New York City, following last season in Washington D.C., and several seasons based in Los Angeles.
