Nick Lachey will soon become a newlywed for a second time – this time with fiance Vanessa Minnillo — and the 37-year-old singer/TV host says he’s not only ready to give marriage another go, he’s ready to be a dad!
“I’m at a point in my life where I’m ready to start another chapter. Having kids is a big part of that,” Nick told Parade magazine in an interview for their June 12 issue. “I’m excited for what comes next. Life is a journey, and I’m certainly ready to close this chapter and move on to the next.”
The former 98 Degrees crooner, who has acted as a Big Brother with the Big Brother Big Sister organization since 2004, said volunteering with the mentoring program has helped prepare him for fatherhood.
“I’ve been with my Little Brother for seven years. He’s 15 now, and the evolution of seeing him go from a shy, timid little boy to a young man in high school who has completely come out of his shell has been pretty awesome to be a part of,” he told the mag. “I’m assuming fatherhood is going to be a hundred times more intense than being a Big Brother, but watching a life develop in front of you is a bit of a parallel.
“I’m certainly looking towards it,” he added. “I’d like to be a dad sooner than later.”
As for his upcoming nuptials, “The Sing-Off” host revealed he might woo his bride-to-be using his famed vocal talents.
“If she acts right, she might get a serenade,” he told the mag. “That’s my trump card. Whenever I screw up and I need to get back to her good graces, I sing. So far it’s worked.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Nick may have his work cut out for him if he chooses to sing to Vanessa at the couple’s upcoming wedding – she recently admitted she’d choose rival boy band *NSYNC over her soon-to-be husband’s former group.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love me some 98 Degrees boys, but if *NYSNC came back for the wedding reception – wooooo!” Vanessa told Billy Bush on Access Hollywood Live in March, while fanning herself.
