Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban Open Up About Baby Faith
Nicole Kidman and her husband, country star Keith Urban, have finally opened up about the latest addition to their family, baby Faith Margaret, and the meaning behind her chosen name.
“Just the way she came into our world — we needed to have every bit of faith we could muster,” Keith told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday about their new baby, born via surrogate. “It was completely out of our control. We just kept saying, ‘We gotta have faith, we gotta have faith. She’s going to be fine.’
“And we just thought, ‘What a perfect name for her,’” the proud daddy smiled.
“Margaret is the name of my dad’s mother, my grandmother,” Nicole added. “She had her last baby when she was 49, so, she’s my inspiration.”
The easy-on-the-eyes couple has a 2-year-old daughter, Sunday Rose, and Nicole revealed that Sunday is thrilled to have a little sister.
“She’s so into [Faith] and she’s crazy about her,” Nicole told Shaun. “We really wanted Sunday to have a sibling, you know, so, so now we’ve got Sunday and Faith Margaret…we’ve got our hands full! We’re really happy.”
Sunday and Faith are definitely reaping the benefits of having a Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter for a father – Keith admits he often sings to his girls.
“Right now [they] are into ‘Skip To My Lou,’” he told Shaun. “We crank that out pretty regularly.”
For Keith, the arrival of Faith adds to his household’s estrogen dominance, but it’s nothing the singer can’t handle – well, at least until the girls are old enough to date.
“I roll pretty good with it somehow,” Keith told Shaun, of being the sole Kidman-Urban family male. “I don’t know why, I just do.”
“I can imagine when they start dating [you won’t be as mellow]?” Shaun asked.
“Well, yeah, mellow might not be my thing at that point!” Keith laughed.
