This is a really great organization based in south Florida where we are based and their cause is really around helping teachers with the essential need at the class room level. Nationwide organization where teachers can go in. Register and really get involved and build advocate around the day-to-day needs. How did you fine miss cox here. We scoured the country. Our goal was really to find teachers who were doing amazing things. We are going above and beyond that. Reporter: You found her. Like she didn't submit to like a contest. She was one of the few around the country that we found and we really wanted to capture her story as way of illustrating the power and influence and the amazing affect that teachers have every single day. Yes. Castie the statistics are staggering how much teachers spend out of own pocket annually 1 to 2000 dollars of your own money to help students. We do that because we love our students. Their so many teachers across the country who have so many great ideas but we are often limited by the support and funding that we 7. So the more that we 7 the more people help us the more we can do with our students. How much were you spending out of your open pocket there. At least 1,000 up to 2000 a year. Reporter: Come on man we need to do better. Why did you weren't to become a teachers. I was a hay school drop out myself. I made it through the tenth grade and living life without an education is not easy to do. Eventually got my act together. Right hand to ask. Got a ged. I earned my bachelor's agreement I earned my masters degree and then I enrolled in the school where I currently teach and actually wept become and got my high school diploma. Wanted ton a role model for students all across the country. That's what I do every day. Reporter: You have major regret in life? You can turn it around. All those turn around. I have a motto in my class. I'm always telling students that now matters later. Everything we do in my class ramp everything you do matters. Also tell them that in life you have to go after what you want in life. I ask and until the answer is yes. If I want something for my students I do whatever it takes to get what I need to go. Obstacle will come their way but they have to find a way around them. Push past it and go after what they want in life. I love that. Now matters later. That also applys to social media and stuff. Any kid who post a picture or something now you are posting now matters later. Colleges. They don't look at the essay they look at the Facebook page as much as they look at the essay. Absolutely.
