Taylor Schilling doesn’t mind losing the Hollywood glitz and glam to play prison inmate Piper Chapman on Netflix’s “Orange is The New Black.” In fact, the 29-year-old finds going makeup-free in the front of the camera freeing.
“It’s totally liberating,” Taylor told Allure magazine in an interview for their July issue. “There’s freedom in not having to make it about how my jeans fit or what my boobs look like in a top. All I have to do now is play.”
Now a beauty, Taylor said growing up was a different story.
“It was tough at home, and it was tough at school,” she told the mag. “And my experience was painful, so painful.
“There was a period of time I had very short hair, and I had glasses, and I was very tall for my age,” she added.
While the actress is happy she outgrew her awkward phase, she doesn’t place much importance on physical appearance.
“I don’t feel bound by my face or my body,” she said. “I don’t feel like that’s the biggest gift I have to offer the world. I feel like there are more parts of me to offer than that.”
