LOS ANGELES (April 24, 2007) — In the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy, ABC’s hit soap “One Life to Live” has decided to pull a May storyline focusing on a campus hostage situation, the network confirmed to Access Hollywood.
The plot in question, which was written and filmed back in March, followed a group of Llanview teens - Starr, Cole, Langston and Britney - as they are held at gunpoint by fellow teen Henry, played by Jonathan Groff (pictured above).
“In light of the recent tragic events, ABC Daytime has pulled the story that affected 17 different episodes and is working to re-write, re-tape, re-edit and entirely re-work the show in order to deal with this story in the most sensitive way possible,” a rep for ABC told Access.
According to a report in TV Guide, there were never any plans for blood to be shed, and while Henry intends to kill the students and commit suicide, he was ultimately stopped.
“Out of respect to those affected by this devastating tragedy, especially the families, I felt that it was important to remove this storyline from our show,” Frank Valentini, the show’s Executive Producer added.
