Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg teamed up to produce new film "The Hundred-Foot Journey" and the pair, who previously united for "The Color Purple," addressed why they wanted to work together again.

"We wanted to come together for a long time," Oprah told Access Hollywood at the film's New York City premiere on Monday night.

"For a long time, but for the right thing," Steven chimed in.

"The Hundred-Foot Journey," starring Helen Mirren, Om Puri and Manish Dayal, follows the story of an Indian family who moves to France and sets up a restaurant that ruffles the feathers of Helen's Madame Mallory. But Manish's character, Hassan, is a star chef in the making, and what originally starts out as a clash of cultures actually begins a road to harmony.

"It's about fusing them all," Oprah added.

"The differences we have, we fuse them out of existence. And the movie, it carries a wonderful message," Steven added.

Beyond talk of their movie, Oprah also addressed her new O Magazine cover, which finds her in a Capezio cat suit.

"They talked me into it!" Oprah said of donning the onesie.

"There is an old Diana Ross cover where she's doing that same pose so it's really a take on that," Oprah added.

And Steven complimented his fellow producer on her cover look.

"It's a beautiful fusion of sort of Nina [Simone] and Eartha [Kitt]," Steven said. "Beautiful."

"The Hundred-Foot Journey" hits theaters on August 8.
