overview
Orlando Bloom had only appeared in a few British television shows and one critically acclaimed (but relatively unknown) movie with he auditioned for a large-screen fantasy series being shot by director Peter Jackson. Originally slated for a smaller role, Orlando's talent landed him the larger role of elf warrior “Legolas” in the huge hit “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. The rest, as they say, is history.
The role put Bloom on the map and led the young actor to Hollywood where he continues to be one of the hottest young actors in the industry. He's gone on from the “Rings” series to star in all three of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, as well as “Troy” (opposite Brad Pitt), and the lead role in the 2005 epic “Kingdom of Heaven.”
