BURBANK, Calif. --

For its fifteenth and final season, “ER” is adding yet another A-list actress to its ranks – Angela Bassett, The Hollywood Reporter first reported today and Access has confirmed.

This will mark Bassett’s first foray into joining the cast of a regular scripted prime time series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Bassett will play a tough attending with a troubled past who’s coming back to Chicago after a few years in Indonesia doing tsunami relief. Her arrival in the second episode next season promises to shake County General’s ER to the core.”

It was previously announced that original cast member Noah Wyle will rejoin “ER” this season as well.

Current “ER” stars include John Stamos, Maura Tierney, Parminder Nagra, Linda Cardinelli, Gloria Reuben, Mekhi Phifer and Goran Visnjic.
