Patrick Dempsey Heading To ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’

Patrick Dempsey is heading to “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

This weekend, the Marshall family, one of the families set to appear on an upcoming episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” will travel to Maine, to meet the “Grey’s Anatomy” star as he hosts the Dempsey Challenge. The Dempsey Challenge raises funds for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center, which assists cancer patients and caregivers with support and education.

Rarely do young actors make the transition from teen heartthrob to adult leading man. Patrick narrowly escaped this typecasting and finds himself, nearly 20 years after portraying a loveable geek in “Can’t Buy Me Love,” in the enviable position of remaking his career with his hit role as the medical McDreamy… Dr. Derek Shepherd in “Grey’s Anatomy.”
