LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Paula Abdul will mix her real life with fiction as she guest stars in a new drama for Lifetime.

Access Hollywood has confirmed the “American Idol” judge will play a fictionalized version of herself on Lifetime’s upcoming drama series, “Drop Dead Diva.”

Next week, Paula will film her role as a court judge in one episode of the series, which stars Brooke Elliott as a former skinny model who dies and wakes up in the body of a plus-sized attorney named Jane.

Paula, who has often shown off her jewelry and love of all things sparkly on “American Idol,” will be wearing a bedazzled and belted judicial robe in her guest appearance, a rep for Lifetime told Access Hollywood.

After Jane is told by a partner in her firm to throw in the towel on a tough case, the bedazzled judge Paula, who will be referred to as “Your Honor Paula Abdul,” appears in a dream sequence.

Judge Paula will do what the “Idol” judge does best, inspiring confidence in Jane to continue on in her legal pursuits.

Paula isn’t the only star to appear on Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva.” As previously reported on Access Hollywood, Rosie O’Donnell is a part of several episodes.

Funnylady Margaret Cho also stars in the series.

“Drop Dead Diva” premieres Sunday July 12 at 9 PM.
